Joined by friend and colleague Jed Distler, Juliana is heading to Brooklyn for a unique performance of works by American composers on Bargemusic’s Here and Now series on March 11th!
Celebrated during their individual lifetimes but largely forgotten by subsequent generations of concert-goers, these composers represent a fascinating cross-section of the American experience, from a self-taught child prodigy to a refugee to first black woman to have a work performed by a major symphony orchestra.
Featuring works by Amy Beach, Leo Ornstein, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, and the New York premiere of Helen C. Crane’s Six Idylls for Cello and Piano, this is a celebration of the rich and diverse history of classical music in America.
